Cricket's Three Formats and Major Tournaments
Before getting into cricket betting, it is important to have a clear understanding of the three formats — because the type of bets, markets and pace of results are completely different in each.
T20 is the fastest format. Each team plays only 20 overs, so a match ends within three to four hours. Scores can shift dramatically within a single over, which makes T20 especially popular for live betting. In Bangladesh, BPL is the biggest T20 event — it is as popular among local fans as IPL.
ODI gives each team 50 overs. It is a medium-length format — the ICC Cricket World Cup, Champions Trophy and bilateral series are all played in this format. With a full day's play, there is more opportunity for the situation to change.
Test is cricket's longest format — it can last up to five days and a draw is possible. Weather, pitch conditions and player endurance play a major role. With three possible outcomes (Team A wins, Team B wins, draw), the betting markets are also broader.
Among international events, the T20 World Cup and ICC tournaments generate the most betting activity. Bangladesh Tigers matches attract the most bets domestically.
Football and Other Sports — Where Is the Difference?
Football Betting
A football match lasts only 90 minutes with three outcomes (win/lose/draw). Goals are relatively few, making scorelines like 1–0 or 2–1 common — so the markets are structured differently. Markets like Asian Handicap and corner count do not exist in cricket. The World Cup, Premier League and Asian Cup are the major events.
Ninety Minutes Three Outcomes Handicap MarketsCricket Betting
In cricket, markets shift quickly based on innings, overs and wickets. T20 generally has no draw — two outcomes, so odds are structured differently. Cricket-specific options such as top batsman, toss and wicket markets are available here.
Over-Based Wicket Markets Live Score Changes7 Popular Betting Markets
winbd offers many types of markets for cricket betting. Seven markets are explained below in plain terms — each with one example.
| Market | What It Means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Match Winner | A bet on which team will win the match. In T20 and ODI there are usually two options — Team A or Team B. | You bet on Team A to win — if Team A wins, you get your stake back with profit; if they do not win, you lose the full stake. |
| Toss Winner | A bet on which team will win the coin flip before the match starts. Unrelated to the match result — it is purely the outcome of the coin toss. | You place a bet on Team B to win the toss. Whichever way the toss goes, the main match has not started yet. |
| Top Batsman | A bet on which player will score the most runs for a specific team in the match (or innings). | You pick a specific player from Team A's batting lineup; if that player does not score the most runs, you lose the bet. |
| Total Runs: Over/Under | A bet on whether the total runs in a match or a specific innings will be more (Over) or less (Under) than a set number. | You select "Over" for total innings runs above 160 — if the total reaches 161 or more, you win the bet. |
| Multi Bet | Combining multiple matches or selections into a single bet. You receive the full return only if all selections are correct — one wrong selection and the entire bet is lost. | Three selections with decimal odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.90 — combined odds are 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.26 (approximately). A ৳100 stake returns ৳426 — but all three must be correct. |
| Innings Runs | An over/under or range bet on how many total runs a team will score in the first or second innings. | You bet that Team A's first innings will exceed 175 runs — if the team's score passes that mark at the end of the innings, you win the bet. |
| First Wicket Fall | An over/under bet on at what score the batting team's first wicket will fall. | You bet that the first wicket will fall before 30 runs — if the first wicket falls at 28 runs, the bet is won. |
How to Read Decimal, Fractional and American Odds
winbd supports three odds formats. See below how the same price is written in all three formats — the numbers are for illustration only and are not live odds for any specific match or a guarantee of winning.
Decimal Format
The easiest to read. Team A to win, odds 3.00, stake ৳500. If you win, total return is ৳1,500 (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 original stake). If you lose, ৳500 is gone.
Profit = (Odds − 1) × StakeFractional Format
Written in the British style. Odds of 2/1 for the same team equals decimal 3.00. On a ৳500 stake, profit is ৳1,000 and total return is ৳1,500.
Profit = (Numerator/Denominator) × StakeAmerican Format
The same odds in American format are +200. A positive (+) number means a ৳100 stake returns ৳200 profit. A negative (−) odds, for example Team B to win at −400, means you need to stake ৳400 to make ৳100 profit — on a ৳500 stake, total return is ৳625 (profit ৳125).
+ Underdog / − FavouriteRemember: The numbers above are only to illustrate conversion between the three formats. Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200 — all three express the same price differently. Choose whichever format you are most comfortable with at winbd.
LIVE Live In-Play — Odds change with every wicket and over
Live betting means placing bets while the match is in progress — it is a completely different experience from regular pre-match betting. Odds update instantly after every wicket, every six, and every over.
Say Team A is at 35 runs for 2 wickets in 5 overs — Team A's odds to win will naturally go up because scoring a big total looks harder at that point. On the other hand, if Team B is at 120 runs with no wickets after 15 overs, their odds will come down significantly. The situation is being reassessed at every moment.
At winbd, live betting markets change rapidly and some markets may temporarily close — especially while a ball is being bowled. Markets such as runs in the next over, at what score the next wicket will fall, or over/under for innings total runs are available in-play.
For easier mobile use, you can use the winbd app — both Android (APK) and iOS versions are available through the official channel.
When a wicket falls, the bowling team's odds improve — putting the batting team in a more difficult position.
When the run rate rises in the death overs, total runs market odds update quickly.
Some Practical Advice Before You Start Betting
-
Start with one market. Focus only on the match winner market at first. Trying to cover all markets at once makes decision-making complicated.
-
Keep a separate budget. The money you set aside for betting should be outside your everyday needs. Bet for entertainment, not to chase winnings.
-
Be careful with multi bets. Combining three selections raises the potential return, but also raises the risk. One wrong selection and the whole bet is lost.
-
Understand the format before betting. T20 and Test betting strategies are not the same. Pitch and weather conditions have a much greater impact in Tests.
-
No rushing in live betting. Odds change fast, but that is no reason to place a large bet on an instant decision.
-
Play responsibly. Read the responsible gaming guidelines at winbd — deposit limits and break options are available to keep yourself protected. Always keep betting as entertainment.

About Crash Goal and Arcade
Alongside cricket betting, winbd has a Crash Goal game where a multiplier keeps rising and can stop at any moment — speed of decision is key here. Those who enjoy fast-result games can check out the arcade games section for more.
These two sections are good options for a break from cricket.

In a limited-overs match (where there is no draw), if Team A's odds are 1.65 and Team B's odds are 2.30 — a ৳1,000 bet on Team B returns ৳2,300 in total if Team B wins (profit ৳1,300). If Team A wins, you lose the full ৳1,000.
In this example, Team A's lower odds mean the betting site considers Team A more likely to win. But even at lower odds if Team A does win — a ৳1,000 stake returns ৳1,650 in total (profit ৳650).
Multi bet calculations are easier to understand with an example: if three selections have odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.90, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.26 (approximately). A ৳100 stake returns ৳426 if all three are correct — but if any one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.
The winbd betting interface automatically shows your potential return as you enter odds, so manual calculation is not needed. Even so, knowing the formats makes it easier to make decisions. For more details, see the FAQ page.
